Children as Pedestrians

When a pedestrian accident involving a child happens, chances are that it was during morning or afternoon commuting hours. Children as pedestrians are all over Jackson between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. These are prime hours for children to be walking on and around roadways in Mississippi. Even with safety guards at crosswalks, motorists need to lookout for children and be aware that they’re on and near the streets. Expect the unexpected, drive defensively and watch out for pedestrians, big and small.
